Flood Mitigation Assistance Program Eligible/Ineligible Costs
The following project costs are considered eligible for reimbursement under the programs furnishing funding for this project. Use of the following information and Elevation Cost Collection Sheet to document project costs. Any other project costs that do not fall under the specified categories should be submitted to The FMA. Staff will review and make determination of funding eligibility.

Based upon the FMA eligibility requirement, the FMA Staff retain the authority to make additional eligibility/ineligibility cost determinations, which are evaluated on a case by case basis.
Examples of Eligible Costs
Allowable Costs:
Engineering costs for preparing the design and cost estimate for the new foundation;
cost associated with contracting for inspection services;
Detaching the building from its foundation (or lifting its slab) and rasing it so the new foundation can be constructed;
Turning of, extending, and turning on utility services;
Temporary removal and storage of foundation plantings and replantings;
Demolition and disposal of old foundation, if not suitable for extension;
Modification of ground floor, if it is kept as a platform on which habitable floor space will be constructed or extended;
In-kind (same size and type) replacement of decks and porches, and additions deemed to be unsound and not able to be elevated along with eh base building;
Typical builder's grade decking and stairs required to access higher elevation;
Site clean-up and stabilization of disturbed grass areas;
Reasonable expenses associated with the owner living elsewhere during the period that the home must be vacated except those listed as unallowable (requires receipts); and
Reasonable expenses associated with temporary storage of fragile items during the period that the home must be vacated except those listed as unallowable (requires receipts); and
Reasonable expenses associated with temporary storage of fragile items during the period of the actual elevation construction (requires receipts)Examples of Ineligible Costs
Unallowable Costs:
Finishing for area below the required BFE, which must be used for parking, limited storage, or building access;
Sidewalks or other site improvements;
Reimbursement of expenses for food or personal transportation;
Floor covering to include tile, carpet and marble;
Hot water heater;
Appliances (refrigerator, gas range, electric range, microwave);
Light fixtures;
Interior trim and finishing;
Interior painting;
Air condition condenser, heat pump
Cabinets, kitchen, bath;
