Hazard Mitigation Grant Program Funding Summary |
This memorandum is to notify all eligible applicants that the 90-day Hazard Mitigation Grant Program funding estimate for Hurricane Georges (FEMA-1249-DR-FL) has increased to $8,389,341. The attached spreadsheet (Attachment B) revises the allocation estimates for each of the declared counties and replaces those listed in the Departments memorandum dated January 15, 1999. Please note, however, that the figures listed are estimates only; a communitys allocation may still increase or decrease after it has submitted an application, as the Federal Emergency Management Agency is required to adjust the States allocation six months from the date of declaration.
In addition to this change, the Department has identified a calculating error in the Hurricane Earl (FEMA-1241) allocation spreadsheet, which was also included in the Departments January 15 memorandum. This error has been corrected and the revised allocations are shown in Attachment A. We apologize for this oversight and are prepared to assist communities in identifying supplemental funding sources from other programs, including the Community Development Block Grant program.
As a result of these changes, the Department is extending the application deadline for both disasters from April 9 to May 10, 1999. All other eligibility criteria remain unchanged and communities are encouraged to submit applications consistent with the States top funding priorities. Should you have any questions regarding these changes or the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program eligibility criteria, please contact Division staff at (850) 413-9884.
