Preparedness

During the Preparedness phase you should take actions to prepare in advance.

[Photo of group meeting at work.]Some example tasks may include:

  • Prepare contingency supply lists and have appropriate reserve supplies
  • Train employees on your plan
  • Update your plan
  • Prepare necessary communication according to your plan
  • Backup and store business critical information

What type of events should you be prepared for? There are three general categories of events –natural, technological and other events. While it is not possible to be prepared for all types of events, being aware of what types of disasters might impact your area or business is one of the best ways to begin to protect your business.
