Director's Office - Meteorological Support Unit

The Meteorological Support Unit provides critical information concerning the effects of weather systems or weather related phenomenon that may threaten the state. They also provide training and public awareness regarding meteorological issues to state and local agencies, including the media. The Meteorological Unit serves as liaison to the National Weather Service Offices which service Florida, the National Hurricane Center, the Storm Prediction Center, the Southeastern River Forecast Office, and other state and local meteorological organizations and interests.

The Meteorological Support Unit, staffed by trained meteorologists and using the latest in state-of-the-art weather information systems, provides critical information before and during a disaster. This unit also develops planning and readiness criteria for the numerous weather systems that threaten the state as well as weather related training and publications.
