Applications for each project must be submitted by the date specified in the Notice of Funding Availability letter. Application forms are provided by the Florida Division of Emergency Management.
Ideally, a Hazard Mitigation Grant Program project should commence within 90 days of funding approval and completion of the project occurring within one year. However, under certain circumstances time extensions may be appropriately authorized by the state. Furthermore, the scope of work, bidding and contracting procedures may result in longer time frames.
A work schedule must be provided showing a time line and project milestones. An estimated number of days for each phase of the project should be provided; specified dates are not necessary (i.e. bidding process = 30 days). A maintenance schedule also must be submitted indicating the maintenance activities which must be performed by the applicant for the life of the project.
