Environmental and Debris Section

The mission of the Environmental and Debris Section (EDS) is to educate stakeholders in debris and environmental issues, conduct outreach to encourage preparedness and to provide technical assistance with regulatory compliance during all phases of the emergency management process.

The EDS is staffed by environmental scientists and debris specialists that are available to any entity dealing with disaster-related issues.  While mainly focused on compliance and education within the context of FEMA’s Public Assistance Program, the EDS staff is also available to assist in non-federally declared disasters and with issues outside of the PA Program.
