THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER IS ISSUING ADVISORIES ON TROPICAL STORM CRISTOBAL...CENTERED ABOUT 40 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF CAPE HATTERAS NORTH CAROLINA...AND ON TROPICAL STORM DOLLY...LOCATED ABOUT 165 MILES SOUTHEAST OF COZUMEL MEXICO. A VIGOROUS AND WELL-DEFINED TROPICAL WAVE IS LOCATED OVER WESTERN AFRICA A FEW HUNDRED MILES EAST OF DAKAR SENEGAL. THIS SYSTEM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME A TROPICAL CYCLONE VERY QUICKLY AFTER IT EMERGES INTO THE EASTERN ATLANTIC ON TUESDAY. The Annual Statewide Hurricane Exercise Is June 2-5, 2008

On Monday, June 2, the Florida State Emergency Response Team (SERT) will conduct the annual statewide hurricane exercise. “Hurricane Herb” is the simulated storm that will give state and local agencies the opportunity to test their response capabilities and train new personnel. “This is our time to bring in new members of the team and get all familiar with the systems in the State EOC,” said State Emergency Management Director Craig Fugate.
