State Mitigation Strategy / State Hazard Mitigation Plan (SHMP)
The State of Florida's official State Hazard Mitigation Plan was updated in 2007 and approved by FEMA on August 24, 2007. FEMA approved the revised Enhanced component of the Plan on September 5, 2008.
Federal regulations (44 CFR Part 201) require the State Hazard Mitigation Plan to reviewed, updated and submitted to FEMA for approval every three years. This maintains Florida’s eligibility to receive Stafford Act funding.
