Because of the insufficient number of trained disaster specialists to manage and recover from a major or catastrophic disaster, the Florida Division of Emergency Management has initiated a Disaster Reservist program. Adults with the time and commitment to complete the required training will be considered for employment with the State of Florida in times of catastrophic, presidentially declared disasters, where additional human resources may be necessary to manage and recover from the disaster event.

Application for Disaster Reservist

An application to be a Disaster Reservist needs to be completed and returned to the Disaster Reservist Cadre Manager by mail, fax, or e-mail. The application requires the following five items:
1) Completed and signed State of Florida Application
2) Copy of a valid Drivers License
3) Copy of Social Security card
4) Proof of Education (minimum education requirement is a High School Diploma or equivalent)
5) Certificates of completion for the following online FEMA courses:
