DEM Provides Update to Ongoing Public Assistance Payments
The Florida Division of Emergency Management (DEM) announced today that Public Assistance (PA) payments of $1,649,610.68 were processed to the Department of Financial Services (DFS) from December 10 - 14 for their review and payment to end recipients. For Hurricanes Hermine, Matthew and Irma combined, total payments of $461,017,712.86 have been processed to DFS. $352,605,078.35 of that amount has been processed in 2018.
The PA program funds the debris removal, emergency protective measures, repair, restoration, reconstruction or replacement of a facility or infrastructure that is damaged or destroyed by disaster. The PA program also encourages protection of these damaged facilities and infrastructure from future events by providing assistance for hazard mitigation measures during the recovery process.
The Division will continue to ensure that Florida’s communities successfully recover from major disasters as quickly and with as much future budget certainty as possible. We are committed to expeditiously processing federal public assistance reimbursements in a fully transparent manner immediately following FEMA obligation.
