AHIMT Application Team Member Process
Application and Selection Process for AHIMT Personnel
Division of Emergency Management (DEM) recognizes the unique skills and overall contributions of other state, regional and county agency personnel to the effectiveness of the SERT. DEM will institute an annual application process for the AHIMT positions in which they will advertise, collect and analyze the applications.
- The application process for AHIMT positions is managed by DEM.
- AHIMT Commanders will be selected by the SERT Chief and SCO.
- Candidates for these positions must meet all the prerequisite training and will also be evaluated for position specific training and experience. (NOTE: the SERT Chief has the authority to waive training requirements)
- A review committee consisting of the AHIMT Commanders and SERT Operations Staff will review and rank the AHIMT candidates.
- Qualified individuals for each team position will be identified from DEM staff, other state, regional, and county governmental agencies using the applications process.
- Candidates will be notified for which position that they have been assigned by their AHIMT Commanders.
AHIMT Membership Requirements
- Primary staff for the AHIMT will be pre-identified.
- Any person selected for AHIMT assignment shall have a minimum of two years experience in either emergency management or as a first responder.
- AHIMT personnel will demonstrate the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to function in a forward deployment environment. At a minimum, AHIMT members will demonstrate functional knowledge of the Florida Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP), the resource management systems and procedures, and have completed specific emergency management training, as well as, NIMS/ICS training.
- The AHIMT should include at least two members who are qualified in Basic First Aid or to the First Responder level.
- The required training includes the following course and/or equivalent:
